EVERYBODY LOVE NEW YORK – THE PALMYRA ARCH IN THE HEART OF MANHATTAN
After the presentation of the reduced copy of the Arch of Palmira in Trafalgar Square on April 19th, the same, arrives in New York City Hall Park in the heart of Manhattan.
The reconstruction will crown the World Heritage Strategy Forum held at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts (USA) from 9 to 11 September 2016 and was organized by the Institute for Digital Archeology, with the support of UNESCO and Dubai Future Foundation. The themes of the important conference have gone through different topics: from the protection of the world archaeological sites to their conservation through the development and use of new technologies.
Among the world wide 3D printing experts and use of new technologies in the reconstruction and reproduction of world “pieces of history”, Giacomo Massari participated in the conference, representing our TORART laboratory that reproduced the Triumphal Arch of Palmira.
Speakers and panelists include a variety of institutions and organizations: UNESCO, CIPA-ICOMOS, World Customs Organization, Directorate General of Antiquities and Museums (Syria), World Monuments Fund, Victoria & Albert Museum, Ashmolean Museum, Harvard University, University of Oxford University of Cambridge, New York Public Library, Université de Toulouse, Wellesley College, Boston University, Iuav University of Venice, University of South Carolina, University of Kentucky, Oxford Center for Maritime Archeology, National Federation of the Blind, Dubai Future Foundation, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
