PERSEFONE GAIA

The Greek statue of Persephone Gaia from Taranto, bought at auction in Switzerland, in the early twentieth century, by Emperor of Germany, Wilhelm II, for one million marks (today about 150 million euro). Now a days the statue is exposed at Altes Museum in Berlin, headquarters, since 1830, of the royal family’s art collection. Today people can admire the result of copying done thanks to technology and 3D scanning processes at MArta, the Taranto National Archaeological Museum.
