Grimani Bas-Relief

The National Archaeological Museum of Palestrina preserves one of the most important examples of the Augustan age, a valuable marble relief, said “Grimani”, depicting a wild boar suckling her cubs.
The relief, found in Palestrina in the 70’s of last century, is not an isolated piece, but is part of a series that, so far, can be reconstructed with at least four copies: one in Rome, two reliefs preserved from time to Kunsthistoriches Museum Vienna, depicting a lion and a sheep with their pups, and a small fragment of the angle fourth pad which is located in Budapest.
