Giuseppe Penone, with an experience of more than forty years, has explored the subtle levels of interaction between man, nature and art. His work represents a poetic of radical break between Arte Povera and conventional media, emphasizing the involuntary processes of breathing, growth and aging that are common to both humans and trees. Each work reveals the innate sculptural qualities of natural materials, marble chisellings “cast” by nature to show the profound decorative elements of growth and time.
