Human Statue (Jessie), 2011, is a life-sized bronze figure depicting a woman in a designer dress and sunglasses in a posture which contrasts with the circular shape of a vase at her feet. The work recalls the figurative sculptures of the past, but dressed in contemporary clothes; the model is imposed in the present. This interaction between modernity and classicism is reflected in the realization of the work that was first designed in digital using photographic scans of the model.
Not just a means to an end, the technology used to make Human Statue (Jessie) was an integral part of the concept of the work.
